Washington has always held a unique mystique for me. Seattle is so far up there, so isolated, so rainy. No wonder it bore grunge. At the same time, it played the backdrop for Frasier. And the star was that whack job Kelsey Grammer. How could the same city simultaneously spawn an artistic counterculture AND play host to the beige, boring, whitewashed Frasier? The answer, of course, is that any city of Seattle’s size is sure to be diverse in far more ways than could possibly be represented by just these two examples. But the state ain’t just Seattle. I have been here before, and only on the Palouse in the Eastern part of the state. Highland desert. Couldn’t they have put Frasier there?
